About Us Depression can be behind self injury

TrainingSelf-injury / self-harm awareness training - We'll come to you, day or night, weekdays or weekends, anywhere in the UK

Currently, we are overbooked for training!

We have had an excellent summer, delivering training across the country, but due to demand (people have been recommending us left, right and centre!) we're now fully booked for the rest of 2008.

We may have one spot available in November, but that's likely to get snapped up.

You may request our Training Brochure from Wedge on Wedge@firstsigns.org.uk

"I attended the CPC Conference in May and heard your presentation and was much impressed.

"I think you demonstrated a great understanding of the subject and delivered it with aplomb and humour."

Abby, Phd student

"Although his presentation followed talks by an eminent psychiatrist and highly-experience psychotherapist, and a heavy lunch, he was able to capture the attention of a room full of psychotherapists – no mean feat!"

Amy, MIND

"Content & presentation style of Wedge was brilliant - really held the audience."

"Fantastic use of user-led organisation to compliment the professionals."

Two anon feedback quotes from a CPC conference.

FirstSigns' Training is the first choice for many organisations and groups; your members can benefit from gaining a direct insight into the syndrome of self-injury, and your clients will appreciate your sensitivity and understanding around the subject of self-injury.

FirstSigns' Trainers will be pleased to visit your venue, anywhere in the UK. Our Trainers volunteer their time to raise awareness.

We have provided numerous seminars to Health Care Workers within Hospitals, Care Settings and Universities, and we regularly present to Doctors as part of their training. We have close relationships with local NHS Trusts and Nightline organisations.

FirstSigns is available to speak at NHS conferences, but is also available for smaller groups, such as School Teachers and School Nurses or self-help groups, for instance.

Training is free, however, we ask for a voluntary donation of £85 to help FirstSigns continue.

We ask that our Travel Expenses be reimbursed.

Please do not email us from Hotmail / MSN - we are unable to reply to Hotmail / MSN due to their incredibly strict email regulations - you will not receive a response from FirstSigns if you choose to use Hotmail or MSN.

ChoiceFirstSigns (Self-Injury Guidance & Network Support) is an online, user-lead voluntary organisation, founded in 2002 to raise awareness about self-injury and provide information and support to people of all ages affected by self-injury. We recognise self-injury is a way of coping with distressing experiences and difficult emotions, and we encourage people to reflect on the issues behind their self-injury, and to develop and explore alternative coping mechanisms.
FirstSigns is managed and lead by people with personal experience of self-injury, and we are non-judgemental, non-directional, and respectful of our members’ and visitors’ life experiences and perceptions. The FirstSigns website is the centre of our vibrant community, and provides access to all of our services, including our newsletter, book and trainingwww.selfinjury.org.uk

You can contact the Directors of FirstSigns from the Directors Page and email FirstSigns on info@firstsigns.org.uk and you may contact the Webmaster on webmaster@firstsigns.org.uk.

FirstSigns has effectively trained hundreds of health care professionals over the years, and is a respected information resource on the web for doctors, nurses and psychologists.

More than this, FirstSigns provides non-directive guidance and emotional support to people of all ages who live with the compulsion to self harm.
